The Justice of the Elephant


In addition to Weird Tales, editor Farnsworth Wright manned the helm of sister-mag Oriental Stories from the years 1930-32. Filled to the brim with exciting tales set in east (which back then would include anywhere from the Ottoman Empire to Japan), Oriental Stories was supported by regular submissions from Robert E. Howard, among others. Clark Ashton Smith contributed two short stories, as well as several poems, distributed throughout the run of the magazine.

This particular tale first appeared in the Autumn 1931 issue alongside a novelette by REH (and two different poems written by Frank Owen under the pseudonym Hung Long Tom--sheesh).
