King Kull sits upon the throne of Valusia, but a dagger's point is not far behind him! The intrigue and duplicitous deceit of a royal court takes on a very literal sense in this first of Robert E. Howard's "Kull" stories.

First published in the August 1929 issue of Weird Tales, this delightfully gory yarn introduces the relatively thoughtful Atlantean and the setting of Valusia where many of his adventures take place. Perhaps one of the first stories that explicitly explored Howard's theme of the barbarian's rectitude in the face of corrupt civilization, it also includes a lot of dudes getting stabbed.
